During our January meeting, as well as the AGM we inject a bit of excitement into proceedings by handing out the club trophies to the latest winners.
There are two trophies, the first is the club competition trophy, known as the IPMS Middleton Cheney Kit Basher of the Year Award, featuring plaques with the name of every winner since it was first awarded at the end of 2007. In its 10th year, club chairman Martin Aris scooped the prize having accumulated the most points over the course of 2016. For those unfamiliar with the club’s competition, it occurs on bi-monthly club nights – February, April, June, August, October and December. On these months club members can enter up to two models and everyone votes for their favourite, each vote equalling one point. The person with the most points at the end of the year wins the trophy. Simple!

The second trophy is the Most Inspired Modeller Award. This is handed out to a club member who has shown notable enthusiasm, and passion for the hobby, or has improved markedly over the course of the year. For 2016 the award was presented to club secretary Sam Evins for his dedication to our Star Trek display which went to every show we attended last year. Sam produced the majority of the models on the display and spent many late nights making sure new additions were ready for each event. It was a huge effort and it made him an obvious candidate for the award.

Well done to both Martin and Sam. Now the journey begins to wrest these pieces of silverware away from them! Best of luck to everyone taking part in the club competition this year, proceedings get underway at our next meeting on February 23rd.
